Activity 1: Spinning TopsMaterials needed:
Procedure: Bring out a variety of spinning tops for demonstration and student experimentation. Ask students to describe the various tops according to their size and shape. Find what is common about all of the tops -- most likely that they all have a wide middle and a narrow point on the bottom. Ask students how they would design a top of their own. |
