Whether you are traveling locally or venturing a little bit further, Gilbert House Children's Museum hopes you will enjoy play-based learning with your kids when you visit any of our reciprocal partners across the country and around the world.
Reciprocal Partners
ASTC Travel Passport Program
The Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) is a global organization of science centers and museums dedicated to furthering public engagement with science. As a proud member of ASTC, Gilbert House Children’s Museum participates in the Travel Passport Program, which grants our members free general admission to over 350 science centers and museums worldwide.
The 90-Mile Radius Rule: To support local institutions, ASTC policy states that museums located within a 90-mile radius of your "home museum" (Gilbert House) are not eligible for free admission.
* Excluded Museums: Because they fall within this 90-mile radius, OMSI (Portland) and Eugene Science Center do not participate in free reciprocal admission for Gilbert House members.
Local ASTC Partners: The following Oregon museums are participating partners and offer benefits to Gilbert House members:
* Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum – McMinnville, OR
* ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum – Ashland, OR
* Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory – Sunriver, OR
We strongly recommend visiting the specific museum’s website or the ASTC website ahead of time to verify current restrictions.
Before You Travel
Check for exclusions. Make sure the science center or museum you are visiting is not located within 90 miles of either your home residence and the science center or museum that you belong to. This distance is measured as a linear radius, not driving distance. (You can check the linear distance on Google Maps by following these instructions.)
Review the family admittance policy of the venue that you intend to visit. Call before you visit to confirm your Passport Program benefits.
Pack your ID (or other proof of residence). Admissions staff reserve the right to request proof of residence for benefits to apply. Passport Program venues requesting proof of residence are marked by “Proof of Residence Required“.
Pack your membership card. Passport Program venues are not required to grant benefits to visitors who forget their cards. There is no universal database with all Passport visitors’ member data for admission staff to reference. Some venues will allow you to call your home institution to confirm your membership, but they are under no obligation to do so.
Lost your card? Please contact your home science center or museum. ASTC does not issue or administer membership cards.
